Do you miss the days when baseball...

Baseball has gone through a lot of changes with the new commissioner, and we forget all the changes have been made over the years. Remember when winning the division meant everything because if you didn't win you didn't go to the playoffs. Remember when the National League and Major League didn't play each other until the Allstar game and World Series. When there was a rivalry and both teams went at for real.

Well teams can't shift anymore creating more offense, the bases are bigger so players will start stealing more - not to mention the pitcher can only throw over to 1st a certain number of times. The pitch clock and batter getting into the box has sped up the game al little, the imaginary runner on second in extra innings has kind of worked, but it seems to be a shame that no batter has to double to get to second, at least in wiffleball we had to make it to 2nd to put on an imaginary runner to be put there.

With so many wild card chances, why even try to win the division just get in the playoffs and then play for real - see Diamondbacks.

You win 115 games, and it doesn't mean squat if you get knocked out in the 2nd round - see the Giants.

There is a chance, at least being talked about at the commissioner's office that they may make it mandatory that starting pitcher have to go at least 5 innings. A few decades ago, they did it without it being mandatory.

It makes you wonder in 10 years how many changes will be made, maybe it'll be changed back to what it originally was     By Linda McGrath
